After seeing your answer I know I'm 100% cooked 😂
I don't even know where you found all this research and information lol. Having very high hopes for you progressing 💪🏻
It's currently my 3rd cycle for TCs and I have read (literally) hundreds of apps for various firms both from online databases and my peers. I can honestly say that this answer alone is one of the best I've seen in an app (although I can't compare it to successful PW apps, obviously). So by...
Not a future trainee, just someone who's been through quite a few ACs (both successful and unsuccessful ones), here's my two-cents:
1. This is dependent on the firm, but generally speaking I find that firms are never really that detailed when it comes to AC feedback. This kind of makes sense...
Unless you did really poorly on the test, I really believe that luck is a huge factor for firms like PW, especially given their undeniable popularity this year. EVERYONE applied to PW lol 😂
Same here. My experience with US firms has been that if they put you on hold or ghost you, it's 90% likely that they're about to reject you.
I went to Latham's AC last year and they ghosted me for 5 weeks before the eventual PFO, so I'm assuming a post-app PFO now 🤣
Has anyone completed Baker's VI and not heard back? It's been 2 weeks now and they stated they would get back to us within 2 weeks. Should I simply assume a PFO?
I'm in the same boat. I personally feel that past VS experiences have not given me ANY advantage at all in my subsequent applications, and at times I might even argue that they are almost somewhat of a disadvantage...
All I'm going to say is that both the quality and quantity of applications...
Thank you for your encouraging words, it's really something I need in this brutal cycle. May I also ask how did you change your answers the second time you applied to the same firm? Did you have to significantly amend your original answers?
Thank you! That was indeed very reassuring. I really wish you all the best in the later stages.
Can I ask what's your approach in re-applying to the same firm in subsequent cycles? How did you go about changing your answers given that there wasn't much that was significantly wrong in your first app?
I'm not usually the one to complain about rejections, just perplexed at what could've possibly gone wrong. Added multiple internships to my CV, went to ASCAC, attended their online open day twice, spoke to their trainees, had my application reviewed....etc.
I don't know if my mid 2:1 law...
Skadden PFO... had it TCLA-reviewed too...
Kind of interesting given how I went from securing a vac scheme having zero commercial knowledge in my first cycle to getting rejected by absolutely everything in my 3rd cycle...
@Andrei Radu May I ask did you attend open days at the firms you did a Vacation Scheme with, particularly Davis Polk? Would you say attending an Open Day is necessary for these firms, and if not, would an applicant be disadvantaged in any way?
I completely understand. I applied twice for their open days and put quite a bit of effort in the later one as well. But the truth is given how much interest is shown in this forum alone, PW will be incredibly competitive for all the reasons, notwithstanding its meagre trainee intake.
The...
Pretty sure everyone gets the invite as you automatically get the link after registration.
PW will most likely be at least the 3 most competitive firms this cycle, so not surprised at all with how competitive their open days are.
I don't necessarily disagree with you. It's just that they didn't have a policy of not permitting someone to apply against after a VS (unlike some firms) and I was just trying to see if it's at all possible. Also I am in belief that this also applies to ACs as well, at least to some degree...
