Hi @hanz123 Please see my above reply to Shreya. The news story, you should pick something from the last six months, that is relevant to that firm (i.e. to its practice areas, or clients).

Hi @shreya.mehta - my first piece of advice would be to attend one of my applications workshops - a list of all events can be found here, under 'Meet Us' https://www.willkie.com/careers/legal-professional/early-careers/discover-more-and-apply/united-kingdom#country My advice for application is...

Hi @Giorgos Thanks for your email. Please see my responses: 1. No, I don't value legal work experience more than other work experience or employment. Legal WE very difficult to obtain (nless through personal connections). 2. It depends on how you write about it - what did you gain from...

Hi @babylawyer1942 Yes, you can but make sure you go beyond the generic, i.e. don't say 'I attended an Open Day at [x law firm] where I networked with partners, associates and trainees and participated in an [x practice area] workshop.' What did you learn? How did it make you more certain that...

Hi @al97 Sorry, I wasn't clear. The emphasis should be on you and your work, rather than listing skills. No firm would be expecting applicants to match the skills of a trainee or an NQ - it would be unrealistic. Rather, focus on what you have done, the efforts you have made and your...

Hi @aspiringsolicitor03 Thanks for your message. It's about meaningful content, rather than referring to something more than once. Often, when people refer to the same work experience/employment, it can read as quite repetitive, so make sure you are making an entirely new point. You always...

Ask Willkie Farr & Gallagher Anything!

Hi @al97 Please see below! 1. You can, but it's more important to tell us what you did, and what your achievements were in each role. The skills should be apparent if you do this. Don't list a bunch of skills without the context in which they were used. Often, I read applications and...

Hi @Nehajain13 most firms I know don't ask for legal work experience for vacation schemes, as it is very difficult to obtain (nless through personal connections). However, I would recommend attending events, virtual events are great, to build up your understanding of law firms as a business...

Hi @icl Yes, many of our trainees are international. We are looking into ways of sponsoring international candidates who don't have a visa.

Hi Hi @chirag12 - the Friday session is devoted to applications only, rather than talking about our practice areas - I'm afraid there isn't the time to go through both. If you wanted to talk to a trainee, please come along to the Legal Cheek law fair tomorrow where there will be three of us...
