    Hearing Back from Firms + AC & Interview Tips Share - 2018 - 2019

I got a second invitation today, following receiving it yesterday. Did you do the test today? Might just be them automatically sending out a reminder of sorts

    Hearing Back from Firms + AC & Interview Tips Share - 2018 - 2019

Hi Salma, With question 5, did they want to hear what you knew about what a trainee does day-to-day? Is this just testing your knowledge?

    Summer Vacation Scheme Thread 2019

N No question is stupid in my opinion. It helps to see that it explicitly says legal issue so yeah, I'd stick with something that's explicitly to do with that. Otherwise you're right, general issues will still effect the legal market

Depends how it's worded! What is the question?

Commercial awareness resources: collated list of pros and cons

Hi Martika, The other ones I'm subscribed to are: CityAM - easy to understand, covers all the essential stories, uk oriented Finimize - you've probably heard of this one but such a quick read and very informative. Covers things that are important but sometimes other newsfeeds don't mention...

Commercial awareness resources: collated list of pros and cons

Hey guys! Realised I was using a bit of a loophole to read the FT and wanted to share it (at least I think it's one) If you haven't done so before, sign up to their 4 week £1 trial. Once signed up, sign up to all the newsletters that interest you. For us aspiring lawyers, Due Diligence is a...

    HSF question

That sounds fine then! It's a difficult one but maybe if you write out your first draft without thinking about relating it to anyone, then either read it yourself or get someone to read it for you, and see if it makes sense to the average reader. A friend would be your best bet, especially one...

    HSF question

I ask because my only reservation with this question and doing something that closely relates to your degree is that you might not seem like you have many interests or knowledge beyond your degree. Don't take that too literally because I think you've genuinely chosen a topic that you know...

    HSF question

I wouldn't be worried! From experience, talking about something you're genuinely interested is the best way to go about answering this question. Your writing will flow and you have a brilliant personal connection to the topic with the event you organised. That suggests this is really something...

No problem! I just did a Google search and found quite a few but ended up using this one: https://www.practiceaptitudetests.com/verbal-reasoning-tests/

    Hearing Back from Firms + AC & Interview Tips Share - 2018 - 2019

Practice makes perfect. I practiced sjt and verbal elsewhere until my scores were comfortably above 70%. For SJT I would recommend doing their little quiz on the graduate site and noting down the strengths and skills that pop up. I wrote these down to have by me when I did the test so I could...

    Hearing Back from Firms + AC & Interview Tips Share - 2018 - 2019

Yeah so the paradox is that every AC/interview I have there are particular questions or exercises I trip up on, and next time I learn from them but it's something else that trips me up. But I agree. Part of my prep for this AC was reflecting on what went wrong last time. Which is why I think I...

@Daniel Boden oh and to answer your question properly, I was happy with the day. Best AC to date for me, I stick to that, but still clearly some way to go before best AC = an offer.

    Training Contract Applications

Can confirm it's not necessarily true. I guess it depends on the firm and rolling/non-rolling status. I applied and interviewed for a TC with Reed Smith late in the cycle. The AC was held in July.

Thanks Daniel. I'll feed it back here but maybe I overplayed my strengths in my feedback to the forum about how the day went. I can definitely point to where my downfalls were and it was just a question of whether they were substantial enough for HSF to not see potential in me right now.
