TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2021-22 (#1)

I remember when I applied for the Open Day, which is one of the more competitive Open Days to get onto, I applied over a month in advance and received my invitation to the Open Day at around 7pm the evening before the Open Day (which started at 9am) 🤣 Always remember that it's not a PFO until...

I would e-mail them to clarify, as the wording here is a bit unclear and last year they definitely allowed candidates to apply for a direct TC in the same recruitment cycle that they were unsuccessful for VS. They only did not allow candidates to reapply who had reached the interview stage.

Ask TCLA's New Community Managers Anything!

Hi @futuretraineesolicitor, I think your answer to Q1 sounds pretty good! If you can explain why you are draw to firms that do M&A and PE then your answer will be even better and perhaps you can think of one or two more aspects of the firms you are applying to that are similar (e.g. are they all...

Ah thank you so much @Asil Ahmad, this really means a huge amount! It was wonderful to be able to present our thoughts to all of you :) I think that Avni and I could be convinced by lovely feedback like this to do another one in the not-too-distant future, now that we got the initial nerves out...

    James's Weekly Interview Insights

Week 3 - Competency-Based Interviews Competency-based interviews are the bane of many candidates' interview processes. TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2021-22 (#1)

Hi @A494, If the application does not ask for a cover letter, then I would be inclined not to include a formal cover letter attachment, but instead you could use the body of the e-mail to write a short 'cover e-mail' in effect, where you outline your interest in the position and experiences. I...

TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2021-22 (#1)

Hi @green124 I would not worry at all about your situation as there are many applicants who graduated from university 5+ years ago, plus there are still a lot of firms you can apply to this cycle (especially for direct TC)! Check out @AvniD's thread about things to consider when applying...

    Ask A Graduate Recruiter Anything!

Hmm I will wait to hear @Jessica Booker's insight on this but I wonder if it could mean that you will get some technical commercial questions (e.g. how a deal is structured and what the processes are in an acquisition). I would perhaps check out a video like this one which gives a simple...

    Ask A Graduate Recruiter Anything!

@MissJ would you be able to elaborate any further on the meaning of 'technical questions'? Is this for a TC interview?

    How does BCL affect TC's?

Thanks for your insight @Jessica Booker!
