You have to try and gauge the level of detail you've been asked to provide depending on the context in which you've been asked a question...

If you still feel ill Monday morning, email grad rec first thing explaining your situation and try to get them to shift your AC to a later date if at all possible.     There are a few ways to do this- you could invest time in lateral hiring to enhance your sector expertise, as @Asil Ahmad said you could increase and strengthen your ESG focus, you could come up with partnerships that highlight your environment+ESG focus etc.

    Follow your instinct with this and at the same time err on the side of caution because you will not be able to pick up on social cues in a VI to know whether your joke will be received well or not.

    Prep for the VI and call them on Monday to confirm the status of your app- if they said you're through to VI, then you will have prepped for it. If they say no, then you would've brushed up on your VI prep for future applications.
