Sure I can work on that now. Apologies for the delay in the law as a business guide; I haven't forgotten about that either.

Apologies for the delay guys! I haven't quite finished (I was going to put this up as a law firm insight), but in the meantime - Kirkland & Ellis Big and profitable Kirkland’s 2017 financial results were announced last week and, thanks to a 19% growth in revenue, Kirkland is now the largest...

Commercial awareness for 'smaller' law firms

No problem, it’s good feedback. In time we hope to broaden our reach, but yes you’re right, for now the site will be more useful for students applying to City law firms.

The impact of tariffs on business and law firms

Hey - I've replied to the other thread :).

    The final interview

If you're temporarily importing a good then you may qualify for a Temporary Importation Under Bond (TIB). Usually, you've got to export or destroy the good after a certain amount of time and if you qualify, you can get duty-relief. I presume the article suggests that this can apply to tariffs -...

    Commercial issue application question

I'd say it's optional. It's nice to pick out the other side but I wouldn't make it too rigid in the sense of balancing the positives and negatives. The key is to have a clear opinion on the topic throughout your answer. Often that comes across better than sitting on the fence.

    Shearman & Sterling

    Nope, not necessary.

    Shearman & Sterling

Thanks Nick. It's a very good point and often overlooked by students. I know that filling out the work experience section can be very tiring - at least, that's how I felt - but you're right, it's an important part of the application. The good thing is once you get it down you can copy and paste...

The impact of tariffs on business and law firms

Hey, Sure - The impact of US tariffs on China on business and law firms So let’s start with what Trump is trying to do. For a long time, China has been accused of stealing intellectual property and participating in unfair trading practices. It’s alleged that in many deals Chinese companies...

Commercial awareness for 'smaller' law firms

Hey, KS94. You're certainly right that some of the guides and posts are steered towards particular law firms. For example, the private equity guide would only be relevant if you were applying to a firm that does a lot of private equity work (like Weil or Clifford Chance), or if you mentioned...

    Shearman & Sterling

Yes, I think it's fair to say that their growth strategy is one of the reasons behind Shearman & Sterling's competitive advantage. Both are good justifications and ultimately, that's more important as it's a subjective question. And sure you can tie the responses in that way. The good thing...

    Shearman & Sterling

I'll share some thoughts on the first two questions, although this is by no means exhaustive. They compete with different types of firms in different areas, so it helps to narrow that down to determine how Shearman & Sterling maintains a competitive advantage. How is Shearman & Sterling...
