You can bring notes but I’d advise not to really use them in assessments too much - it’s important to use them sparingly. You want to show genuine response rather than rehearsed ones. You can make notes during assessments though.
Taking the time off work may also be very difficult due to conflict checks.
Yes - I would recommend applying to direct TCs in your situation. It would only be if a firm recruits exclusively from vacation schemes that this would not be appropriate route for you.
I would potentially look at...
Unfortunately these figures do not exist because there are far too many variables.
I personally would try not to focus or concern yourself about these details - they are ultimately not useful in your pursuit of the career.
No - unfortunately not, as you have presented it that you were working with them for 4-5 months longer than you actually were. That is the crux of the issue here - you have presented false information.
If you weren’t an employee it might be that the company won’t provide the potential next...
They will need to contact your previous employer. The only reason they won’t contact the employer is if you are still in employment and haven’t given your notice in. However, at the point that happened, they will still seek a reference from that employer and before you joined their organisation...
It is not an issue about how you lost your job then - you were made redundant. That is with your employer not down to you and your performance.
However, you should not be lying about your employment status though. If you are no longer employed by the company that needs to be reflected in the...
You can mention it, but just don’t make it the first reason or dedicate a lot of word count to it. Even though pro bono might feed through to lots of different initiatives, it is only going to be something you do occasionally - it is like an extra curricular rather than it being a key part of...
Good 10%+ of applications are copy and paste and will have another firm’s name in.
Quick tip is to remember where you copied it from and keyword search the document for the old firm’s name.
Same goes for if you spell the firm’s name incorrectly and want to ensure all other spellings are correct.
If just generally during the day, not at all. If during an interview cut can be a concern if no questions were asked at the end (shows a lack of curiosity) but isn’t necessarily a straight no.
This is the problem with any form of application - you will get mainly opinions rather than a set of rules everyone abides by.
For instance, I think a personal summary is usually redundant - I generally think they are a complete waste of space/words.
Are you applying to vacation...
Know your application inside out - any claim you have made in it about your motivations or skill set, you could be questioned on, so remembering what you wrote is pretty important.
I don’t know the specifics of the form unfortunately so can’t advise on this. However, if your contact has also contacted GR I don’t think it is worthwhile duplicating this.
For something like Chambers or Legal 500, don’t use the student pages. Use the rankings. Then pick a particular practice area or sector you are interested in and then look at their profile for this area - for instance...
If you haven’t heard back in the last two months, a short but polite email asking when you may hear back is not too much of an issue, especially if you haven’t chased them before.
