@Jessica Booker Hi Jessica, I am submitting an application to a firm's Dubai office for their placement scheme. On the website it says the firm pays for accommodation for those not resident in Dubai. So I am assuming that they also sponsor the visa (for internship) given they are clearly...
Thank you so so much, that's super helpful. I think I am nervous about non-firm related commercial awareness questions coming up. I am comfortable speaking about the firm's work and I am aware of a few commercial trends that may affect the firm specifically or their clients, but I am not...
Thank you! I did call the switchboard and also the number listed on their website for Future Talents Team but it didn't go through. Sent them a message on Instagram as well. I will try again on Monday! :)
Also, has anyone heard back from Stephenson Harwood? They aren't responding to my emails and I tried getting in touch with someone from the Future Talents team but apparently they have left the team!
@Jessica Booker I couldn't find the contact details for their recruitment team in Dubai...
Can anyone who is preparing for their Bristows partner interview please share what they are doing? I haven't been invited yet but I think I should be optimistic because at least starting regular early prep will help. I was considering reviewing basics of IP law, basics of contract and doing some...
I also don't know if I should start preparing for the initial interview now. Just because I think my VI responses (given I had to say something within 60 seconds lol for 2 very generic questions) were pretty good. Also, I don't know what the assessment criteria for VI is.
Anyone else get an email from Bristows saying their VI responses have been passed onto partners for review? I don't know if that's automatic or if grad rec reviews them first?
Is anyone else feeling a bit annoyed with the VIs? I am sure they are useful tools for the firms to use and choose between the applicants but it's so bizzare that you go through all that application writing process, write paragraphs on why x firm and then the x firm turns around and says, no...
Are you considering applying? Also my motivation isn't because I think it will be easier. I do think if anything, as Jessica already pointed out, it will be more challenging due to lack of ties to the region and why not London since it should be the obvious choice since I live in the UK.
Suppose you just wanted to get some experience working in an international office, even if you weren't 100% sure about the firm and a TC wasn't the main concern, how should a candidate go about applying for a VS in a different office? I am going to get in touch with someone from the recruiting...
This is going to be a bit of a silly question, but do you HAVE to apply for a VS to the office you would want to join as a trainee or can you apply for one of their international offices even if your goal may be to work in London? 👀
@Jaysen Thank you!! :)
For a question like "what sets X firm apart from other firms" should I focus on both why clients would prefer it over its competitors as well as trainees (so speak about training/work availability)?
