Anyone applied to direct TC to any of these firms and have received a return (pfo or invite for next stages)?
Stephenson Harwood
Norton Rose Fulbright
Ashurst
Baker McKenzie
White & Case
I understand they are reviewing applications on a rolling basis, but not will not shortlist candidates or...
Keep going, you still have 19 applications pending review, plus these three TC apps. You will get one TC.
Hopefully you will receive good news in the couple months.
Good lucky with Stephenson Harwood. The TC begins in 2026 and they are rolling (though they "never make offers to fill all our...
Don’t get me wrong, you are right, financially speaking, self funding the PGDL over a second undergrad or a two-year LLB is extremely viable.
Also, it is a good option depending on your career plan. After the PGDL you can find a paralegal role to get work experience, network and fund your time...
Hey! I know this feeling, I am also an international student (qualified overseas and completed an LLM in the UK).
After reading a lot of FAQs and speaking with some grad rec, I honestly believe that a PGDL is not advantageous. Firms primarily look at your undergraduate grades, and the PGDL...
I think you cannot apply for a direct TC. From Travers Smith's website:
Can I reapply if my application isn’t successful?
If your application is unsuccessful at the application stage, then you are eligible to reapply.
Unfortunately, if you attend an interview or vacation scheme and are...
I read that some firms have this policy. Didn’t know Macfarlanes was one of them. I would apply for the VS, but now I will stick with the direct TC.
It is very unfair since you may have performed well but might have been rejected because the VS was full.
Yes, sent by email immediately after you complete the test. My highest scores were analysis, relationship builder and credibility. The lowest was adaptability.
I completed the test on 16 Nov for the direct TC. Don’t know if I passed this first stage yet.
Good to know, last year AG held AC around February and March, and sent VS offers a couple days later. I suspect this year will be the same for TC. We should hear from them early in January.
Thank you! I agree that it doesn’t make sense to sit the exam for which the regulator has exempted you.
I am eligible for an exemption from SQE2 due to my experience as a qualified lawyer in one of the few jurisdictions recognised by the SRA. However, I was afraid that applying for this...
Hi @Jessica Booker
Do you know how firms are approaching this now?
If I get an exemption for SQE2, can I take the course without seating to the SQE2 exam? Would the firms pay for the course anyway?
It was really interesting and gave me some light on the actual chance of learning from the tasks and structure of the VS at Willkie, especially the meetings where the associates and partners got you involved in the cases.
Thank you so much @Andrei Radu!
Hi @WillkieGemma and @Andrei Radu
@Andrei Radu, could you share a little bit about the work you did in the litigation team during the vacation scheme (if you spend time in this team)?
@WillkieGemma aside from the competition litigation team, do trainees take part in all kind of litigation or...
Sorry to hear that. Do you mind saying which attributes did you get on Capp Assessment?
I got high score in Respect and Working with other and low in Leadership preference. Don't know if it is enough for the next stage.
