I agree with all this- I think what I meant to say was that there's definitely no harm in applying if someone is really dead set on applying, but it's not clear what criteria they're using for even considering non-penultimate apps nor is it clear how many places will be given to penultimates. I...

This statement could apply to any firm, though. Many firms recruit predominantly from vacation schemes and yet people still apply, especially if they're set on the firm and they're confident in their abilities to succeed on a Training Contract. People still get hired, even if they haven't gone...

Anyone know roughly what Hogan Lovells' turnaround time is for direct TCs? I did the WG just over a week ago, do they normally take a few weeks or so to reply? I'm aware they have approximately 4000 applications a year, so it's not surprising. Thank you!

I believe they've taken an assortment of other cost-cutting measures such as slashing NQ salaries (although I'm not sure if this is temporary), and as you point out, they've scrapped the vacation schemes. I'd be interested to know if the decision has any rationales beyond cost-cutting. It might...

I've been using this list here: https://www.lawcareers.net/Solicitors/TrainingContractDeadlines I believe Paul Hastings recruit only from direct TCs, not sure how it works with the others!
