I received a WG invite for the NRF Summer VS, and recently completed that.
Does anyone know if they're automatically sent and what the turnaround time is between the test and a telephone interview invite (assuming a passing mark of course)?
Thanks
Hi Jessica,
Would you be able to speak to the value of interacting with a firm before applying for a VS?
Specifically, the value of:
- attending firm events, both on campus or open days
- participating in the firm's first-year scheme; and
- working as a campus ambassador for the firm.
As...
Those bad apples ruining it for all of us, ha.
Oh, please no! I'd have been binned off instantaneously with my chicken scratch writing. I thank my lucky stars.
Oh, I can see the disincentive in using this process from the employer's perspective. As an applicant, it's more of a pie in the sky wish than anything else. Beggars can't be choosers and all that, eh?
This, so hard. Just the hours saved by everyone would be massive.
I could work with a 2 week deadline to write an app, given an invitation after surpassing a benchmark on any kind of test.
I could deal with an earlier timeline too. The ROI on apps would be so much better as an applicant.

Entire agreement clause (came up on an open day exercise): the contract contains the entirety of the agreement between the parties (meant to aid contractual certainty).
IMO, overcoming something unforeseen shows adaptability and problem-solving under pressure, as opposed to having time to gameplan for known constraints.
That said, either would work as long as you can make a compelling case for something you did that shows resilience and ingenuity.
That's very informative and helpful James. Thanks!
I understand the feeling of putting a ton of effort into certain apps and investing so much in certain firms, only to be declined. It's never easy, but we all just need one, right? Just need one. All the best with your next AC!
Hey all, new here. Better late than never eh?
Update on apps in case anyone is looking for information/waiting to hear back:
