    Road to a TC 2025-26

Hi, thanks! I'm afraid I'm not sure if they're rolling but I submitted my application the day before the deadline for the upcoming Open Day and I wrote 264 words so keeping it kinda close to 250 but also within 300 since they are quite standard. Hope that helps and good luck!

    Road to a TC 2025-26

After mulling it over for the last couple of weeks, I've decided to start a thread here to try and hold myself accountable and maybe get to know others in the TCLA community this way. I also want to share my experiences going down this challenging career path in the hopes that it might inspire...

TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2025-26

Hey! I attended a virtual application skills session with them yesterday and they said that this is fine as long as there are mitigating circumstances for each 2:2 module. They also said that they don't request evidence of mitigating circumstances at this stage and if there's anything specific...

I've kept forgetting to respond but thank you both so much for your responses, it's definitely made for some further food for thought and helped me further narrow down some of the firms I'm actually really interested in applying to and come up with combinations of USPs for each firm that appeals...

    Ask Paul, Weiss Anything! (2025/26)

Hi Ali, This was a really insightful response about how legal tech actually fits into your work. Could you please elaborate a little more on how outputs are checked and identified as being inappropriate as such? Is it usually something that might stick out right away or something that you pick...

    Ask Paul, Weiss Anything! (2025/26)

Hello everyone, thanks for taking the time to answer our questions. I have a few questions. 1. I wanted to ask if there are other spaces to evidence how we have the skills/traits which Paul, Weiss are looking for (Entrepreneurial Mindset, Commitment to Excellence, Continuous Learning) besides...

    Wee Intro

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask it, but I have a question that I think would help me differentiate law firms in my application strategy. How can you tell if you have or will fare better with on-the-job training vs formal training? I have been...

    Wee Intro

Hello everyone! My name is David and I am about to begin the law conversion course at ULaw Bristol! I last applied for VS/TCs in the 2019/20 cycle without passing application stage even once (I don't consider tests to be post-app) and decided to try my hand at other things after graduating in...

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

Dechert and Akin Gump rejections this morning, got Links rejection last Friday afternoon too :D Just thought I'd ask if this seems like a generic rejection from Akin Gump as I applied on the deadline (e.g. I know Daniel had his AC before the application deadline) and it suggests they would look...

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

I'd gone the entire week hearing nothing only for it to end on a Friday 5pm rejection email from Ropes & Gray post-application. Meanwhile still waiting on Linklaters, Debevoise, CMS, Freshfields, Sidley, HL, Akin Gump, Dechert, Mayer Brown, Milbank.

Sorry to hear, hope you don't mind me asking, but what's the difference between strengths-based and competency-based?
