Hi Aaraf,
It may help to break down the question: "Why(1) is it important that our(2) trainee solicitors(3) possess commercial awareness(4)?
So:
(1) Make sure you are focusing on why commercial awareness is important and not what commercial awareness is.
(2) Make sure you are writing about...
I think it's quite likely this topic will come up in some interviews this year. In addition to M&A and finance scenarios, competition comes up a fair bit and this is a great case study for interviewers to use.
You can use this thread to share any links or comments on the proposed merger...
Africa: Should businesses & law firms still be investing in this emerging market?
In the wake of the global financial crisis, international law firms turned to the African legal market.
Magic circle firms Allen & Overy and Clifford Chance launched in Morocco, while Linklaters formed an...
It sounds like you're doing it right. In a cover letter, you want to give an overview of what makes you a good candidate for the firm, so you don't need to spend too much time detailing all the tasks you did. There is a qualifier to that though: be sure to be as specific as possible in what you...
Ah very useful to know they chose that topic. Sorry to hear about that - same thing happened in my Jones Day interview back in the day, I hadn’t heard of the topic they wanted to discuss so I struggled with all the follow up questions. I remember feeling frustrated because any other topic and I...

Hi All,
By way of reminder, the deadline for applications are this Friday. We've changed the application form - you no longer need to submit a video as we figured this was quite scary!
I thought we had a thread on this in here already but it doesn't seem like it.
Big tech regulation is one of those ongoing stories that's worth familiarising yourself with. @kaveesha did a great guide on this here: https://www.thecorporatelawacademy.com/the-lawyers-guide-to-big-tech-regulation/...
OK in that case agreed! The benefit of an early application should outweigh writing about a completed vac scheme (at least for passing this stage).
You could always leave applications to the non-rolling firms for after your scheme.
Where do candidates include upcoming vacation schemes in their application form? The work experience section?
I don't think many people did this when I was applying, although I can't quite remember.
