Yes, I would definitely ask, in that order. I've seen firms allow students to do all of those options.
When you ask, just make it clear how this firm is your top choice/how keen you are to do the vac scheme.
It's not really like suits. There's a lot more paperwork/hard work/admin that Suits obviously doesn't show and going to court would only really apply if you're in a contentious seat (unless you're filing something) and even then it's at a much slower pace/not as dramatic/probably settled outside...
I remember being asked this question at Shearman & Sterling.
I'm assuming when you say "key components" you mean "what questions could I be asked about the deal?", in which case it really depends on what deal you're choosing. For example, if it's M&A, you might want to think about the purchase...
Interesting question. It's hard to give a clear answer as hours really differ between departments. In real estate, you might finish work at 5:30pm, while you might be working until 9pm each day in corporate. It's also driven by the market - you could be working until the early hours of the...
I agree, I can see why you're being careful - obviously, you want the extra day but you don't want to miss the deadline. Maybe, it's something worth pointing out to them after the process is over.
Personally, I'd go off the info they sent you when they replied to you (midnight on Sunday 27...
See, I still think you are right. It sounds like they're just reminding you that the deadline is midnight on Sunday, so you do have the extra day to prep. If it was today, surely they'd say the deadline is on Saturday?
I'd still go for the vacation scheme:
From the website: "However we strongly recommend that you apply for a Vacation Scheme rather than directly for a Training Contract; the vast majority of our Training Contracts each year are offered to high-performing participants on our Vacation Schemes so...
Hmm, good question. As Abstruser said, I'd only bring it up if they ask you where else you applied. If it's a recent interview, it's not actually necessary to say you were rejected, unless they ask you. You can just say you were interviewed at XYZ.
Well done guys.
According to a student who took the test in January, the video interview was a mixture of why law, why Latham, a competency question and a question on extracurricular activities.
Have you had any exposure to international work, whether at the firm or otherwise? Alternatively, do you have any other international experiences you can draw on?
You could use one of these experiences to tease out the reasons for why you found international work interesting (e.g. new...
