Hey @lawnoob,
It honestly depends on the stage that you are currently at. For example, if you are in your first year, I think that drawing on your experiences from secondary school would be fine. I would think that early teens is probably too far removed from who you currently are though (e.g...
Hey @S87,
Yes! I think that this is absolutely a fair question. The only thing that I would suggest is that you prepare for this to be thrown back at you (i.e., "What salary are you expecting?" or "What would you like to be paid?"). It is always worth having an idea I think just in case you are...
Hey @User1999_,
Have you tried posting this on our flagship threads (for vacation schemes and direct training contracts)? These threads receive the most traffic, so for queries like this, often it is best to ask on there.
Another idea would be to use the search bar in the top right of your...
Hi @Esporia,
Tagging @Jessica Booker for her thoughts on your open day query. Personally I would suggest doing open days to gain an insight into a particular firm (rather than more broadly demonstrating interest in a career in law. How many firms would you like to gain an insight into? Which...
@summer207 I am delighted to hear this. Thank you for being such a friendly and positive presence in the community. I really hope that you enjoy the course 🚀. Let us know how you find it!
Hey @22£222*,
I think @Jessica Booker has provided you with some fantastic advice on this. I am so sorry to hear that you find yourself in such a stressful and difficult situation. I just wanted to wish you all the best. I really hope that things work out for you.
Please do reach out if I can...
Hey @mustardcustard,
I am really sorry to hear that your application to Links was not successful this year. It is impressive that you are bouncing back with such a positive attitude though. This is exactly the sort of attitude that will bring you success in applying 🔥.
Unfortunately I can't...
Hey @exl!
Welcome to the forum! It is great to have you join the community.
I know that your post was a few days ago, so I know that it is possible that you have heard back already! Just in case you have not done this already, have you had a look through the forum's existing content for any...
Hey @S87,
Congratulations on being invited to the next stage of you AC.
It is a little difficult for myself and the rest of the team to help without further context. What are your thoughts so far? Is there anything in particular that you would like advice or help with concerning the questions...
Hey @Moon,
Thank you for the question. I am sorry to hear that you have had a rough ride so far in terms of converting your vacation schemes last cycle. That being said, congratulations for being offered a VS this cycle with AG. They are a fantastic firm and credit to you for bouncing back! I...
Hey @Romiras,
I'm interested (as someone who knows relatively little about financial careers) why is sell-side easier to get into and (presumably) less sought after than buy-side?
Appreciate your thoughts on this! I hope this is the sort of discussion that @Choux à la Crème wanted to inspire!
Fantastic insight @Jessica Booker, thank you for sharing your perspective.
I am intrigued by what you said about the relative competitiveness of law vs. finance/IB etc. as I have thought this in the past too. Given the application numbers compared to law, are these careers actually far more...
Hey @Jellybelly829,
Apologies for not getting to this before!
My advice would be, as best you can, to practice the article interview with a friend/family member. The first question your interviewers will ask is "please can you summarise this article for us?" or "what did the article say?"...
Hi @Choux à la Crème,
Unfortunately I am not really qualified to comment on this.
I thought I would bring in @Rob93 who (I believe) might be able to shed some light on this.
@James Carrabino @AvniD @Jessica Booker any thoughts?
