Very... interesting read, signed by Donald Trump. It refers to DEI practices at law firms, specifically PW, as discriminatory, signed by the president, these are crazy times. He called it unlawful!
@Andrei Radu How would you go about explaining an interest in private equity firms at the interview stage if you don't have any direct experience? would just highlighting some similarities between other experiences and PE be fine?
For private equity focused firms like Kirkland what are some ways you could justify an interest in private equity without direct experience? i.e. would it be reasonable to say I enjoyed the variety in x experience, and PE involves lots of variation in companies in different industries, or is...
For any grads on here, in interview how often are you questioned on how you have spent your time after graduating or why you have failed to secure a TC yet?
I think the SQE scenario is a reach, but having multiple TCs to weigh up your options is something that slipped my mind. I interpreted it as them just wanting to do the schemes.
IDK whether you can do that, but it feels a bit inconsiderate to prospective applicants who are seriously considering a TC there who would now be deprived of a place.
If you have multiple extracurriculars, good grades, and work part-time, you are already a great candidate, I don't think trying to take on more things would be worth it/beneficial.
I have a similar background to you but with a 2:1, and it definitely hasn't stopped me progressing to interviews...
Even if you scored 40/40 on the WG, if your application answers, grades, work experience, or any other aspect wasn't considered sufficient, you could still be rejected. So you can't conclude they don't care past the benchmark.
