Absolutely not. I have attended 5 ACs this cycle (all for elite U.S firms) and the vast majority of candidates with me were graduates, masters students or career changers. Only a handful were still in uni and those tended to be those at upper echelon unis (Oxbridge, LSE, UCL, Durham and Bristol).
Don’t be nervous. A partner can (and will) hold it against you for not wearing a tie, they will never hold anything against you for wearing one. Far better to be overdressed than under for an interview. Law is a customer (client) focused business and first impressions matter. It’s a minute...
Wear a tie, if you don’t have one pop to any charity shop and find something sensible. Tie is far more formal than just a shirt and might help just incase a partner is slightly more traditional.
An office with no real autonomy that leans heavily on another larger office. In the context of S&C the vast majority of decisions are made in New York and London is an afterthought. Work tends to originate in NY with the London office mainly used to service the European needs of American...
Wow! This is a good position to be in. Of the four I would choose Weil, the hours will be long but the training, calibre and variety of work is amongst the best in the city. The other firms are far smaller and I have heard S&C is entirely a satellite office.
Even if they have and you haven't received word yet they might still interview you for summer. I assume they have had a massive amount of applications this year and are struggling to get through them all.
Accept the VS you have and in the meantime politely request for the second one to be moved to summer. If you get the vac scheme and they move it everything is fine. If you get it but they cant move it choose which scheme suits you.
That’s a good position to be in! I would recommend emailing Paul, Weiss and informing them you have already made a commitment for a spring scheme and if there is any chance you can move to summer, the success of this wholly depends on the firm. Otherwise just interview as normal and if you have...
I wouldn’t worry! I just received an AC offer yesterday. Those offers are from people who were fast tracked I believe. Either via pathfinders or an open day. I attended neither so hold out hope! My application was on 77% on hold with a tick by candidate review if that means anything
