BCLP is worse because their test is automatic. If you don’t meet the test benchmark they won’t even read your app. Nasty stuff lmao. Imagine writing 2,000 words for nothing omg. 😂
Small update: I fell for the gmail bait and ordered myself UberEats. Yet again I got distracted and am doing everything except my apps. Now I am back at my desk with more snacks and I will defo get a crack on with this stuff now (I hope) lmao. 🥲
Every time I see a notif pop up I panic thinking it’s an app update, only to open gmail and see it’s yet another UberEats, Deliveroo and JustEat discount code and promo email…
Same here lmao, idk what’s going on atp. It’s like my brains only activates AFTER I’ve submitted my app and only then will I spot 13849 mistakes and my app reads like it’s the most generic thing in all of human history… Just have to hope for the best in these circumstances I guess. 🫤
I’m in the same boat right now. I grabbed snacks to eat but I’ve alr finished them and still haven’t even started with any app questions. Gna need to grab more snacks and hopefully I acc do something in terms of applications this time lmao.
It’s just personal info, grades and work history. I can’t see any app q’s or space for a cover letter, so assuming the form is relatively simple. I’m going to submit mine in the next week or so.
Some people got their test within days but others didn’t get it until weeks later. I got mine I think 3 weeks after I applied. This is for Weil idk if Mayer Brown is the same.
They said they did this intentionally during their open day, as they want to assess how we convey our motivations in as concise a way as possible. I found it extremely difficult to do. 100 words isn’t enough words at all. 🙃
When I applied it was pretty spaced out but idk if it will be the same at this point onwards:
14 Oct: submitted application
27 Oct: received stage one test
04 Nov: sat the first stage test
07 Nov: received second stage test
21 Nov: confirmed adjustments for test
01 Dec: sat the second stage...
Great minds think alike hahaha. Medical law was one of my favourite modules. I did give thought to pursuing medical negligence law but I defo prefer the commercial law route.
Tbf the auto email did say we should start to make accommodations in advance, should we all receive the written exercise invite. Better to be prepared than underprepared in these cases!
Tbf I think he was applying until early spring but was interviewing over summer since some firms were non-rolling basis. He definitely wasn’t still applying to firms whilst holding onto a TC, but I know some people who are doing that on the forum at the moment. In any case, he worked hard and he...
Haha that’s so cool honestly! Seeing everyone’s alternative career ideas, I think Skadden should progress all of our applications! Some incredibly creative ideas for grad rec to read. :)
It took me over a week just to pick an alternative career because I was torn between writing about a career very similar to commercial law or something completely different. I studied medical law and ethics as a module and researched several novel neurosurgery negligence cases so figured that I...
I’ve been wondering too haha. Pretty sure he got 4 or 5 vac scheme offers and 2 or 3 direct tc’s. It was an insane run, hats off to him. 😅
I remember he’d msg me every other day with an update (interview or offer) and I was like jheeze I aspire to be like that someday! :/
Let’s manifest a...
