    General Discussion Thread 2020-21

Idk the specific answer to whether some firms read them in a random order but some non-rolling firms read applications as they come in to manage volume but only send out AC invites after the deadline

    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

If you log onto the application system, it should give you an exact date and time that you need to complete the WG for. Should be 5 days from the exact time you finished the CAPP assessment

    Dechert application

When I applied to Dechert last year, I approached these as separate questions with little overlap. Q1 is asking more about you, whereas Q2 is more about the client's perspective, the business of the law firm and what is Dechert's competitive advantage within the legal market (as you have...

    Hogan Lovells Application 2020/21

As someone who graduated in 2018, would it be negatively perceived to discuss university anecdotes rather than examples from work for a few of these competency questions? For two/three of the four questions, my university examples are better suited for what is being asked, but I'm wondering if...

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

Does it ever mean anything when a firm says post-AC that they will get back to you early the following week via phone call regardless of outcome but then proceeds to leave you waiting for weeks (24 days and counting)?

    Ask A Graduate Recruiter Anything!

Just to build on this, I went straight into the cover letter in my application in the year I did Gibson Dunn's vac scheme (No Dear X or Yours sincerely etc.)

    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

There are two windows in which to apply directly to Linklaters for a TC. What everyone has applied to is the first window, and the deadline you see is for the second window, which I believe will open in March/April.

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

I think it is still worth a go. A friend of mine applied to Macfarlanes on the deadline and got through to AC and the subsequent vacation scheme two years ago.

    Gibson Dunn Interview

Yeah exactly! The four law firms you'd least like to see on the opposite side of a courtroom essentially. I've just checked the most recent ranking and Gibson Dunn has actually been knocked out now.

    Gibson Dunn Interview

Yeah, they must've changed it up a bit this year. It was very much centered on my application and what I'd written about. They didn’t ask any competency/strengths questions but I would still be sure to have them ready to go. The firm has such a huge focus on culture and understanding what...
