BCLP TC app question

Maybe this is an obvious question, but under which of BCLP's sectors does M&A fall under, if any? I want to write about both real estate and M&A, and whilst I know I can talk about the real estate sector and small practice areas within it, I cannot seem to do the same for M&A. Would that matter, if not, how would you structure answer? Also, if M&A doesn't fall under any of their 6 sectors, how would it seem to the firm if I talk about a practice area that doesn't fall within one of their specialised sectors?

a sector is a type of industry (eg health care, technology, financial services) so M&A is a practice area that crosses different sectors

Real Estate is confusing as it can be a practice area and a sector.

What do you find attractive about Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner’s sectors/ departments and which area(s) are you interested in having exposure to in your Training Contract and why? (500 words)

Could someone please help me with this question-

Earlier posts have suggested the following approach- detailing why you are interested in 'a specific sector/department' and then going into 'an area within the said sector' and why you are interested in it- i.e. linking your answers to part 1 and 2 of the question.
e.g. 'I am interested in the 'Real Estate and Infrastructure' department because of x. Within the 'Real Estate and Infrastructure' department, I am interested in 'Planning' because of Y.

Is this the best way to approach it? Or should the questions be approached separately? Is the first part of question asking more generally what we find attractive about BCLP's sector- approach?

Thanks,

Thanks,
I approached it like the above because it made sense for me to provide further detail on the specific departments within the sectors I was interested in. But you can approach the question whichever way you like. As long as you mention at least one sector, one department and explain a) what you find attractive about them (why BCLP specifically) and b) why are you interested in them (personal justification) then you'll be fine!

Thank you! Seems like a common application question then.. was just confused with the wording of it.

Hi there!

Does anyone what the BCLP online test entails?

Also, I have looked at their website but it isn't clear what competencies they look for in trainees? Does anyone have more information about this?

Thank you!!

I was just about to ask about this test! I don't know what it entails or how to prepare. I would hate for all the hard work that I did on the application to go to waste.

Is anyone able to advice on this please?

Thank you!

Does anyone have any specific tips for BCLP's test? The email states it is situation judgement/strengths based with critical reasoning. For those who have taken it, did you just brush up on watson glaser style tests?
