Hey everyone, I recently sat the SQE 1 exams and got high 70s in them. I had a course provider but mainly used other resources to help with revision and practice. I hope they can help, especially for those sitting in January 2024.

I'd say try the free ones first (especially if you already have a course provider). But if you need more variety with questions, then it may be a worthwhile investment to go for the paid ones. Some of the ones I listed above are relatively affordable.

My course provider did not give me much so I mainly sourced alternatives. Some of these resources I did not personally use but were recommended by other candidates. Best of luck with the exams!

Hey, would you advise going through notes thoroughly and spending a little less time on MCQ practice, or skimming through notes and focusing on MCQs?

I’m on the SQE1 prep course with BPP so have made workshop notes but I haven’t retained any of it (failed the BPP mocks). With only three weeks left until the SQE1 exam, I’m not sure if i should focus on going over my notes or on doing MCQs (even if it is open book)?

Hey, I would definitely focus more on practice to build up your familiarity with the format. You should do this alongside reading your notes. I used to do 25-50 questions a day followed by some revision. On some days I would do a full mock (QLTS, OUP, or others I mentioned above). I think with practice, you are also seeing why other answers are incorrect and that in itself is a learning process compared to simply reading your notes.

I don't see why not, although I think they have a free sample on their website (you should check). Regardless, I'd look at all the available resources that I posted and see which one is the cheapest. Some of the ones on eBay and Facebook are relatively cheap and prepared by students, so it's worth checking those out too.

Hey there! I passed both the SQE 1 and 2 on the first go and I thought I might jump in with some advice (for you and anyone else reading) as I didn't have anyone to ask for advice when I did my exams. I had a course provider with access to hundreds of questions and I think I passed SQE1 singlehandedly because of it. (Did about 1.6k questions total over 5 months).

I'd definitely advise you to get as much practice questions done as possible! The questions really give you practical experience - for example, using the process of elimination to arrive at a final answer, and differentiating between key words like "may" and "will" in different answer options.

Alot of the SQE1 exam also comes down to timing and strategy so make sure you're practicing under exam conditions too.

I heard BPP doesn't have question banks, so it might be worth it to look into some of the free and paid ones linked. The one above curated by ex-sqe students also looks promising (judging from the free sample) as there were definitely some discrepancies between the style of my providers questions and those in the actual exam!

Thank you for posting this. Do you think the revise sqe books can be used alone? I use them because they are concise but I am worried they are a little too concise. I am worried about missing key information.

I like to use these resources as supplemental resources instead of relying on them solely. If you're with a course provider, then I wouldn't worry about missing key information. If you aren't with one then reviseSQE may be a good option.

Either way, I believe practicing more questions prepares you best for these exams, so I would also go for question banks.

I've heard from many people that ULaw and Barbri are great, given they have a resource bank that can allow you to schedule your own mock exams. May be worth checking those out considering many people also use them!

I'm not sure what resembles the real exams, I don't think any of them do but regardless a course provider does help solidify your knowledge, and question banks help you get into the right exam mindset for SQE 1.

I have tried to tailor my revision around the specification but im not going to lie it is tough without having resources at my disposal (apart from the ReviseSQE materials).

I would just like to point out re Bridgitte's Notes, that I found quite a few errors in the materials, which was dismaying because I then had to alter the notes myself. I would have thought, especially when paying, that they would be correct! I would recommend the free resources that you have linked though, they are great - thanks so much for bringing them to my attention.

So sorry to hear about the errors in some of the materials. Revision banks are more likely to contain errors, such as typos, formatting and outdated tax laws. I hope the question banks I posted are still accurate though.
