First Year Grades and VS applications

Hey!

Firstly, congratulations on your first-year results! :)

I think it depends entirely on the individual firm's academic criteria. The firms you have listed do appear to have relatively strict academic requirements, with expectations around achieving a 2:1 in each module rather than just a 2:1 or above overall. If these requirements are applied strictly, a single 2:2 module could potentially mean you don't meet their eligibility criteria (even though you have a 2:1 overall).

However, if you are particularly motivated to apply to one of those firms, I wouldn't necessarily rule yourself out without checking. It may be worth emailing the graduate recruitment team to explain your situation and ask whether your results would still be considered, especially if there were any circumstances that affected that particular module.

For firms without those specific requirements, I wouldn't worry too much about one module grade. A strong overall 2:1, combined with good experiences and a well-prepared application, is still a strong profile for many firms.

Wishing you the best of luck with your second year! :)
