follow-up thank you emails

Apologies for sounding silly. Will sending a thank-you email to the GR team after an interview make me appear too keen, especially when my group of interviewees did shake hands and said 'thank you' to them in person? Many thanks in advance

I always send a thank you to the lawyers who interviewed me (haven't had a sole gradrec interview yet) but no it will only be positive I think as it's just polite and will give them cause to remember you more positively

no sure if this thread is still active but I was wondering if anyone had any pointers on whether it is best to refer to grad rec / senior associates / partners by their first name or if we should go with Dear Mr/Mrs X when we send a follow-up thank you email?

Say we just had an interview with them and they introduced themselves by their full name but they didn’t specify you can call me [first name] or Mr. [surname]

Just first name is appropriate - we don’t really use Mr/Mrs etc in a work environment unless it’s for client correspondence and even then, it’s not always used

Hey @birdlawspecialist,

Welcome to the forum! To reassure you, I was always told that when someone introduces themselves by their full name in an interview, using first names is acceptable!

I also agree with @Daniel Boden in that, even if there is no advantage to it at all (which I think is highly likely) it is always nice just to say thank you to recognise that someone has invested their time on your behalf!
