Hi everyone! I thought I’d share a little about my own journey in case it’s helpful to anyone here, especially those taking a less traditional route into law.

I’m an international student who studied law abroad before coming to London for a law conversion course at King’s. I managed to secure a vacation scheme and convert it into a training contract in my first round of applications. I started my SQE last week, so it’s only just started feeling real. I’m incredibly grateful.

My biggest piece of advice would be to focus on finding a firm that is a genuine fit for you. I found that everything became much easier when I was applying to firms I could genuinely see myself at: explaining why I was interested, connecting with people, finding my own story and ultimately communicating what I could bring to the firm.

Everyone’s route into law looks different, so don’t feel like yours has to look like anyone else’s.

If anyone has questions about applying as an international student, converting a vac scheme into a TC, or anything else about the process, feel free to ask! I’m very happy to help as much as I can :)
