Gap between LPC and TC

Hello,

I am currently studying the LPC without having secured a TC. I am seeing that most firms recruit for TCs starting 2024.

Considering that I will finish the LPC in 2022, is there anything I can do to start training quicker so that I don't waste 2 years?

The only things you could do is look to gain qualifying work experience and take the SQE or find a firm that is recruiting for 2022 or 2023 intakes. I wouldn’t see two years out as a waste of time though - if anything see it as an opportunity to do something different/what you want to do outside of a legal career

I've got a TC now but during this cycle, most firms were open for 2023, yet a very few(MoFo comes to mind) had spaces for 2022. I can imagine that some firms may recruit for the 2023 intake alongside the 2024 intake, though the former will obviously have slightly fewer places left

Good luck!

I know of firms that advertised for 2023/24 in the last cycle but have moved people forward to March & September 2022 as there were places available (if they had completed the LPC already or could complete it this year). This was after successful vacation schemes, but always worth asking as you may find firms to be accommodating. It's a bit of a gamble but if worse comes to worse you can always do something different in the intervening time.
