Question on firm's alignment with training contract aspirations

Hi all,

For a first year scheme I am applying for at BCLP, the only question the application form asks is "How does does BCLP align with your training contract aspirations?" (250 words)

Whilst this is clearly mainly a question about your research into the firm, is it also space where I should be trying to sell myself and my experiences/skills/qualities? On the one hand I feel like I should as there's no other space in the form to discuss these things apart from the Work Experience entries, but on the other hand I do not want to not answer the question.

any help is very appreciated :)

Thanks for sharing this @Shahil.

I think this question is somewhat similar to MacFarlanes application question, it would great for @Helena and @Daniel Boden or any other members who are applying to MacFarlanes discuss how they would approach a question like this!

@Shahil As Salma says one of the Macfarlanes questions is somewhat similar -
Please explain why you are applying to Macfarlanes and what your career ambitions are. 500 words.
I tackled this question by setting out in the first paragraph precisely why I was attracted to Macfarlanes, I then went into more specific details of what the firm offers in terms of TC, what sets it apart and married up the skills and qualities I have gained that I believe make me a good fit for the firm.
I think you should try to make clear why you - it's not easy with only 250 words so I would suggest looking carefully at what BCLP are looking for. Look at the adjectives they use in their grad brochure, their buzz words. Then try to see what skills and qualities you possess that mean you are right for them and they for you.

I hope this makes sense. Good luck.
