Rainy Day Realisations: A Serial Procrastinor’s SQE Journey (Sep 26)

It rained very heavily today. Whilst a relief in some ways, this also made me realise two things: 1) having not used them for months, I can't remember where my umbrella or coat is; 2) summer is drawing to an end and September is fast approaching. I was filled with dread when, extending that logic, I realised that January will also come soon!

As a self-confessed procrastinator, I have completely ignored every email and bit of information I’ve so far received about the SQE course I am due to start at BPP this September. I know the first date – and that’s about it. I’ve grown far too comfortable, thinking that I can bask around and enjoy a seemingly never-ending summer.😬

Generally, throughout my academic journey, I have not been the most organised. For example, I have never had a study plan before. But from everything I have heard about the SQE, that will simply not cut it this time.

For the SQE, I’m not sure where to begin – and to say I’m completely overwhelmed would be a huge understatement. So, I thought I would document my journey as a way of holding myself accountable. Some of the things I hope to talk about are subject topics (yes…even trusts), study techniques, mistakes, what I’ve learned and hopefully any progress too.

For context, I studied non-law undergrad, completed the PgDL last year and will start the SQE at BPP this September (sitting SQE 1 in Jan 27).

If anyone else relates to anything I’ve mentioned, I’d love to hear from you! I feel that online, people often tend to be very organised and methodical in how they approach their studies (which makes sense, as people like me typically have not got everything together well enough to post!) However, it would be so nice to hear from other people, who are figuring things out as they go – and might not have a plan for everything yet!

My current goals for next time: Complete all the BPP Inductions, finishing up notes I didn't complete from a couple of PgDL modules last year.

(Yes, this isn't particularly ambitious, but I really wasn't exaggerating when I said I'm not the most organised! Personally, I can only start with small steps)
