TCLA has many plans for the New Year, including filming a series of partners/legal tech companies for our classes. The most valuable information I get, however, is always from you guys.

What would you like to see at TCLA? What do you think would be useful to students?

I don't know if this is already done, so forgive me if it is, but putting the commercial awareness updates into a newsletter. Then having this emailed out every week or so would make it a bit more snazzy and official.

Also perhaps dividing the commercial awareness updates in the forums into sectors/ industries e.g. oil/energy resources, tech, financial services, international relations, trade. Then if people were applying to a firm that had particular focuses they could easily go and get a simple digest of some of the relevant things that had been going on. But obviously still keep the weekly updates together when they get initially posted.

Thanks for the suggestion. We'll start doing this.

Interesting idea. I'll chat with the commercial writers and see what they think about categorising their posts into sectors/industries. Do you mean separate forums for each sector/industry or just separate threads?

I would still however have the main overarching Commercial Awareness forum with the summary of ALL of the commercial awareness news (as it is now).

Then separate forums could be useful as then people could start individual threads on a topic within a sector which could help stimulate debate. I would also recommend having the relevant sector's copy and pasted commercial awareness update from the main update pinned at the top for easy access e.g. December 2018 - Financial Services at the top with threads such as 'What is happening to the corporate bond market in light of a perceived 2019 economic downturn?' below etc.

Also posting a weekly motivational quote - everyone loves a soppy motivational quote

I'd love for there to be more recordings of the commercial awareness updates, whether that be videos or podcasts. I tend to learn better by listening and I get majority of my information via podcasts/videos.

This is definitely something I'm keen to do. We have a new marketing team so I will discuss getting one or two of them involved in this!
