when law firms ask "why the firm" questions in interviews, is it alright to say the same thing you have written in your application form or make it different and consider new reasons?

I completely agree with response by @Amma Usman , particularly her point about potentially being pressed on your application answer during your interview. One additional point to consider is that firms and industries are constantly evolving. Between submitting your application and attending the interview, there may have been key developments (e.g. new deals, strategic hires, or practice area expansions) that you might incorporate to demonstrate that your reasons for joining the firm have been strengthened. Overall, I think it's always worth revisiting your original application answer and asking yourself whether anything has changed, or whether you've any new insights that could make my response stronger.
