When I had mine last year it was grad rec but the partner I interviewed with had left by that point.

I emailed a firm to withdraw my attendance at their AC, explaining that another vacation scheme overlapped with the start of their vacation scheme. They told me they could accommodate my circumstances (so, if I’m successful, only do the second half of their VS) and to come anyway. I do like this firm a lot, but 1) their VS to TC conversion rate seems low and 2) they don’t allow applications once you’ve been rejected at the AC stage. Based on how nicely their email was worded, it seems they’d like me to attend. Does anyone have any advice? 😭

How do you even begin to shortlist 3,500 apps esp for a firm that only hires 15 trainees…

They have a VS and DTC route. How many people do they give ACs, VSs and post VS TCs to?

Mayer Brown grad rec picking who gets the VS/TC like this I can alr picture it in my mind:

Yeah its bonkers, they said 3500 applications, then they invite only 80 candidates for AC, and then cut around 50 of the candidates for the actual VS, before then cutting around half again for TC offers. Lol

Wait, do you mean they don't allow applications in the next cycle if you've been rejected post-AC in a previous one?
