Heya - I did their test a few weeks ago so my cover letter must have been fine. I included the address, phone etc. but without 'headers' as such, and uploaded it with my name at the top as a pdf in Times New Roman. Hope that helps
I am currently applying to Weil's UCL x LSE Dinner Event and wondering whether you would be able to help me out with how to structure and what to mention in the question:
Please tell us why you are interested in attending the dinner event at Weil (max 250 words)
That sounds like a really great event to apply for, and an amazing opportunity to get some insight into Weil's culture! For that question, I'd suggest structuring your response in three parts:
Why Weil: I would briefly explain what attracts you to the firm (e.g. its reputation in private equity, restructuring, or complex cross-border work). Try to mention something specific that shows you have done your research, and that it links back to your genuine interests and experiences.
Why the Event: It's important to highlight what you hope to gain from attending the dinner specifically - such as meeting Weil lawyers in a more personal setting, understanding how the firm's culture comes across beyond an open day, or speaking with alumni from UCL and LSE to gain their perspective.
Personal Connection: I would make sure to end your answer by linking it your own career goals or academic interests (e.g. your studies or extra-curriculars have sparked an interest in private equity, and you want to explore how Weil's work aligns with that). This is how you make your answer tailored and personal, and reinforces your motivations for attending by using real-life examples.
I would keep your answer genuine and concise - they're mainly looking for enthusiasm and a clear motivation for choosing Weil specifically (by showing that you have conducted research on the firm).
I hope that helps, and good luck with your application!
