Any insignts on how to best prepare for HSFKs assessment?
Hi! I’d definitely recommend starting with the practice test on their website to get a feel for the format. Beyond that, have a close look at the competencies the firm highlights (things like teamwork, attention to detail, communication, client focus, etc.) and keep those in mind when you’re answering. Try to frame your responses in a way that shows you’re demonstrating those qualities—it makes your answers much more aligned with what they’re looking for.
- Understand the format: HSFK uses situational judgment–style questions mixed with personality questions. Remind yourself that they’re not testing legal knowledge but judgment, decision-making, and how you’d think as a trainee.
- Think like a trainee: You’re not expected to give legal advice, but you are expected to show that you’d escalate issues, balance competing tasks, and work collaboratively under supervision.
- Prioritise effectively: When you get multiple tasks, think about what’s urgent vs. important, and show an ability to manage time under pressure.
- Stay client-focused: In any scenario, your answer should reflect protecting the client’s interests first, then supporting your colleagues, then yourself.
- Be risk-aware: Avoid answers that show recklessness or cutting corners—law firms will always prioritise caution and accuracy.
Best of luck!
