clyde and co rejection today and i lowk got only 3 firms left that i'm waiting a response from (for vacation schemes) ... might be cooked and it's my final year of uni 💔 💔
I'm in the same boat. Coming to terms with the fact that I will most likely have to move back to my hometown and reapply next cycle. Hopefully my hatred for the place will spur me and my applications on 😅

yeah i think i might have to focus on my final stretch of law school and keep my grades as good as possible ... after graduating i can make applying to vac schemes and TCs my full time job (motivated by the haunting image of my home town as well)

I seriously ask why many hate EU Law? I am interested to US firm with a strong VC/PE/Arbitration within EU (Band 1/Tier 1), but I am non-law so wondering
i think its cz its js super technical and lowk annoying asf to learn. the case law is super contradictory in areas too so it sometimes uncertain what the state of the law acc is. and then the entire time the cjeu is js tryna expand the eu’s legislative competence. so much so that it starts getting kind of ridiculous and maybe slightly artificial

I am also finding the application process difficult. Completed research into the firm that I do have an AC with, and their hiring has mainly consisted of internal paralegals for the previous few years. I do have experience working with individuals that would be encountered by the firm. But it just feels as though those individuals with paralegal experience in the firm shall be hired as they know the firm and shall be trusted.

I am waiting to hear back from one more firm also. I am in the final year of University. If I do not succeed then I will need to trade stocks full time (which is a skill I taught to use as a back up plan), stay in my University city as I cannot go home, and reapply next cycle. And maybe sign up for a panic Masters. It’s all very competitive and difficult. So just wanted to vent out my frustrations.

Lol FO Irwin Mitchell (who I'd already marked PFO anyway as they've done ACs or whatever)

After careful consideration, we will not be progressing with your application this year. We hope you found your personalised strengths and development feedback report useful and that you benefit from using this feedback in your future career conversations and development plans.

That "personalised strengths and development feedback report" was a standard Cappfinity, lol. Patronising or what.

I know this is so much easier said than done, but definitely try and maintain an open mind as much as possible. It’s cringe but what is meant for you will never leave you.

The state of the graduate employment market is at the worst it’s ever been. There’s literally over a million graduates competing for not many jobs. Any rejections are not personal; they are simply the result of a difficult graduate market that unfortunately doesn’t owe us anything. But keep on working, and learn from experiences as even if an interview isn’t successful, it will help to develop confidence.

Waw thx for the short insights. Wish after the new EU-INC playbook, the law is getting uniformed between memberstates. Ikr in the US is based on each state, so you can quality or pass the bar exam without knowledge of entire US law of 50 states. Consequently, It must be overwhelming to digest 27 memberstates of EU Law at first glance.
