TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2025-26

Brabners PFO for vac scheme but they said they still want to meet me and offered me a DTC AC instead? Very conflicted as I’m already insufficient for the vac scheme so why would I pass the AC😭😭, but I know my amberjack was not good so idk. Anyone have any insight on something like this happening?
What office for Brabners? Also I would 100% go, your application is not taken into consideration at the AC stage so as long as you prepare well, you have a good chance, congrats :)

I mean, clearly you can't be that insufficient if they offered you a DTC AC instead. It sounds like their vac scheme just became oversubscribed. Whatever the case, at the very least, attending the AC will give you experience that you can carry into other applications, so for me, it's a no-brainer to say yes.

I just completed the Gibson Dunn first stage online test. Here is a brief, no-spoiler overview, for those planning to take the same one...
  • Approx. 60 mins duration
  • Personal working style questions "What would you do if your supervisor said...?"
  • Slider click-and-drag responses "Do you prefer...?"
  • "Conclusion follows" / "does not follow" questions
  • Surprisingly extensive proofreading tests (about 20 mins)
  • No VI
  • No maths questions!!
Overall, this was a good one.

Manchester ! and thank you :) I looked it up and I didn't realise the vac schemers do the exact same assessment day after the scheme,

I always apply to vac schemes over direct TCs usually as I feel like that personal experience and time really does give you a better insight and more things to draw from in interviews, but I will definitely give this a shot !

Yes you are right - I was definitely going to say yes to it as it will be good experience and hopefully I still have a shot. They kept mentioning in their email (as all law firms are doing rn) about how there has been a huge increase in applications - I guess those firms that still prefer to look through apps and tests by hand are will be really struggling at the moment to even get through all the applications.

I had an AC yesterday and it was .... interesting so getting that email this morning was a jumpscare lmao
