TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2025-26

I'm very sorry to hear this, also PFO from DLA and yet to hear back from Fieldfisher. May I ask how you found the interview and if anything stood out?
Thanks, interview was ok, though I found that the way they ask the standard “why law” and “why this firm?” questions were unique. I’d say prepare for those with a focus on any potential competencies that link to them, and make sure you use examples for everything. Good luck!

I’d say it’s still quite short because you get about 15 seconds to prepare and 1 minute to answer. Hope that helps!
Thank you so much!! wow that is really not a lot of time 😭 i thought they might have changed it this year as I saw in 2020 they had the 15 sec prep and 1 min answer time... I didn't expect it to stay the same haha esp how other firms are moving towards 3 mins or 2 mins answers

Is Milbank’s application short? Does it just ask for work experience with no app qs? Also, is the stage 1 test an automatic SJT? Is it amber Jack and are there any VIs?

Thanks in advance!
The app form is just personal details, academics and work experience. The first stage test is just an SJT (not amberjack it’s their own test). It has some timed written questions too. There aren’t any video interview questions. This is for the trad route idk about LevFin.

Idk if it's different for normal, but for Levfin tc it was just work expo no app qs.

1st stage is an SJT post filter (i think a very general filter) w 2 timed written questions (can't remember them exactly but defo polish up ur motivations for milbank).

I think the SJT is Milbank specific, that being said I do remember it being somewhat similar to Amberjack - and no VI!!

I’ve never heard of motivation qs used for a WE — is this more like app questions?

Thank you for your insight :)

Have all the HSF rejections been for spring so far? I applied for summer but have a 2:2 overall in first year and didn’t realise they had a 2:1 in every module policy before I applied so a bit confused about how I haven’t been rejected yet…

At the open day, they said they look for consistent 2:1s, but having a couple 2:2’s doesn’t mean they automatically disregard your app. If you have mitigating circumstances, it just means if you had the exact same quality of an app with someone else and they had all 2:1s they would be prioritised :)
