When I get nervous in interviews, I keep speaking as normal, but my voice becomes really high-pitched and I sound like I have noooooo conviction when the content is objectively excellent. I want to stand out by being really positive and enthusiastic because most candidates let their nerves show, but I find it hard to strike a balance – I end up sounding either like a kid who just visited the Willy Wonka chocolate factory and ate a helium balloon or like a dictator, there’s no in between If anyone has experienced this what remedies would you have?

Hi I personally do this unvoluntarily and usually having a glass of water and actually drinking from it helps me take a break, calm my nerves and start my next sentence with my normal voice. Definitely changed voice betwen saying hello to my interviewers and drinking water but did not seem to be an issue .

Yes, I remember this! I even asked for more info, and said it was unhelpful that they’re gatekeeping cuz I suspected they were lying and I got attacked LOL

I have quite a few offers for vac schemes in summer but a few clash - does anyone know if they are flexible at moving - or i may ask if they can put me on the DTC route. One firm did agree to the DTC route but they were bottom of my favourites

Wish I will have that problem.
It may depend on the firm - some have multiple rounds of VC. Maybe even move to Spring? But if they are competitive, you may end up having to choose.
There are worse problems to have so good luck!

Genuinely though replying and reacting fraudulently to posts asking genuine questions about various stages of the application cycle is awful. This career is already stressful enough and breaking into it is one of the most difficult things you can do in your 20s. This forum is pretty much the only outlet applicants have to support each other short of “knowing the right people”. Sabotaging its integrity is sad behavior

for links summer i had a 99 percentile and sjt was resilience + working w others as strengths, work/resource management as weakness so i'm unsure if i should look forward to hearing from links still
