TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2025-26

I still haven’t heard anything from travers smith….should I consider this a good sign, or? 😃 also does anyone know if travers smith is serious about interviewing people who disclose they have a disability on their application, provided they meet the minimum requirements? I have ADHD and disclosed that, but I have friends today who also disclosed theirs + met the minimum requirements and they just got PFO. Also, I applied kinda early (December 24th) so perhaps they’re working backwards and that’s why I haven’t heard? I’m just confused lol
I wouldn’t try making a generalisation based on this. Given how competitive the process is, insinuating discrimination based on disability is ridiculous lol everyone who applies meets the requirements and inevitably the vast majority gets rejected.

I don’t think this person was insinuating discrimination. Travers has a disability confident scheme you can request to be considered under, if you have a disability and meet the minimum requirements you are guaranteed an interview.

We just don’t know what the minimum requirements are, e.g. what they look for in cover letter

I dont think this is a fair response. The user didn't mention the word discrimination once, so how did you come to that conclusion lol? Being concerned over how employers may view your ADHD while navigating a job market is a valid concern to have

Could be a good sign, have to wait and see.

Your sample size of 1 person isn't enough to indicate their stance, the majority of people who apply have minimum requirements, and the majority of people who apply get PFO 🤷‍♂️

That being said, I don't trust automatically what firms say...

It sounds a lot like “we won’t discriminate if you have a disability” given that the minimum criteria likely apply to people without one (“research or the firm”, “well-written cover letter,” etc)

I inferred it from the wording “do we know whether they’re serious” and “my friends meet the requirements”

Thought I’d update this leaderboard cos there’s a few significant changes since the last update:

Firstly, Covington got booted off the league table (better luck to them next time though).

This is the current state of the league table (note, we have a new current record holder).

1st place: Freshfields (41 days) RECORD HOLDER
2nd place: Sidley (40 days) CATCHING UP??!!
3rd place: Milbank (38 days) RUNNER UP
4th place: Travers Smith (35 days) HURRY UP??!!
5th place: Ropes (20 days) [NEW ENTRY]??!!
I’m pleased to announce that after 37 days post app, I’ve received a PFO post app from Travers! I’m still looking forward to nothing here!

Unfortunately this means Travers Smith failed to surpass Milbank on the league table. I wish them the best of luck in the next app cycle though!

This is the updated version of the league table:

1st place: Freshfields (43 days) RECORD HOLDER
2nd place: Sidley (42 days) CATCHING UP??!!
3rd place: Milbank (38 days) RUNNER UP??!!
4th place: Travers Smith (37 days) [PFO post app]
5th place: Ropes & Gray (22 days) [NEW ENTRY]
