Hi!!

As an Oxford Girlie with veeryyy limited opportunties in oxford I am looking at the Freeths Graduates programme for either Legal Assistant/Legal Graduate!
Does anyone have any experience in this, any advice on which path to take (as both seem to be around more or less the same day-to-day tasks and for graduates), and what would make an application stand out considering there is limited information online compared to other firms?

Thank you!

They are the same thing

’ve heard Freeth is pretty solid for early responsibility, especially in smaller offices - you’ll likely get client contact and real admin/fee-earning support work quite quickly.
Legal Assistant vs Graduate scheme is usually just structure: Assistant can be more immediate role-based, while Grad scheme has more rotations/training. If you want flexibility + training, go Grad scheme.
To stand out, focus on: why regional firm (not just “limited opportunities”), clear commercial awareness, and examples where you’ve shown initiative + communication skills. Keep it simple and specific rather than over-polished.

I never realised they were different schemes. Based on their site, the grad scheme is a rebranding of the assistant program.

There is a direct entry route though
