work experience section applications

currently filling out VS applications and im confused about how much experience I should be including. I have 3 different legal internships, a part time job, 2 university exec positions, uni cohort rep, 2 open days, 2 virtual internships (not forage). that is also aside from university firm dinners and miscellaneous positions at high school.

it feels like way too much to include in every application, yet omitting one feels like im bringing down my application in an already so competitive environment. does having so many work experiences included really hurt an application? do you think some positions I mentioned are not worth including and why? thanks

Hi! That's a completely valid train of thought, I certainly had it multiple times throughout my cycle. To begin, I had around 9 or 10 entries I included (all 250 words).

In regards to the ones you mentioned, I would definitely include the bulk of it, it sounds like some fantastic experience that a law firm will definitely value.


The legal internships and the part time job I definitely would put as separate entires. Then, depending on their similarity and how much you have to say, you could merge the two exec roles into one. However, if they both have some weight to them, you can certainly also put them as each individual one.

Then I would put all legal event related things into one (open days, virtual internships, firm dinners etc.). The virtual internships could serve their own place as they aren't forage, but it depends on how much work you did and their competitiveness.

Finally, the high school positions can either be merged or omitted, depending on how much content they have. I personally utilised some of my high school extracurriculars but decided to put Student President to use in supplementary questions rather than work experience. However, both would be fine, I'm sure!
