TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2026-27

I don't have any tips for the SJT other than learn the four values on the careers website. It's as nebulous as every other SJT.

For the WG it has some light numerical stuff in it so use a calc.

Once you finish it gives a completion screen but I didn't get a confirmation email immediately so don't worry if it takes half a day for that to arrive.
Tysm! Out of curiosity, if you pass, do you get progressed to the VI immediately? Just figuring out when to take it lol

I completed the CC WG on 25 September and scored 96 percentile. I received an email with the report that says 'You will receive confirmation from the Early Talent Team as to whether you have progressed to the application review stage within three working days.'

I haven't received anything yet and it's almost been a week. Should I assume PFO?

Having researched Winston Taylor, identify one specific aspect of our work, culture, or approach that sets us apart from other firms and explain, with reference to your own values or career ambitions, why this resonates with you.

@Antoni Trochimowicz how would you recommend structuring this answer given the word count is 500 words.

This might be a slightly silly question, but I’m genuinely trying to get some clarity on how we’re supposed to research firms effectively. Is there essentially a “hit list” of things we should be looking for?

I asked a similar question at a Pinsent Masons event, and one of the things that came up was that, ultimately, firms often do very similar types of work. For example, if you’re interested in disputes, there are certain fundamental things you’ll be doing regardless of which firm you join.

So, in that case, how do we actually identify the nuance between firms? What should we be looking for that goes beyond practice areas and headline deals, that one thing that makes you think, “Ah-ha, this is why I specifically want to work here.
