Is it statistically harder to get a VS/TC at say Clifford Chance or Slaughter and May than it is at the very best US firms in London, like Latham & Watkins or Weil?
Does one type of firm tend to attract more talented individuals?
I literally have feedback from grad rec saying my point of view was wrong.... no.. it was a matter of opinion. They just say that to make people more relaxed, and I am sure on the whole they are level headed. But, with respect, my point isn't unfounded.
I think something to say about an interview at Slaughters, is that it really really really depends on the partner interviewing you. Sure, this is true for other firms, but Slaughters seem to place a huge amount of emphasis on whether they get along with the candidate. Not all people will get...
Ah fair enough then! :) I even had my Open Day application checked by someone who has a VS there... and she thought it was good so :(
Genuinely shouldn't worry us
Oh I see! I've had another firm cancel their open day due to the spread of coronavirus.
How was the VE open day? Is it worth going to? I think I've probably applied to most of the ones that you went on. Are any worth a miss/ or are any particularly good?
By virtue of you saying that there were not many of you there, I'm guessing it's a hard one to get?
Do you remember how many weeks warning you were given of the outcome of your application?
Oh also, whilst you're here lol. Did you go to the Vinson & Elkins open day?
I think that's a really good point to keep in mind! Thanks for highlighting that. Equally said, just because, such as myself, you have vac schemes at prestigious firms, and have been accepted on other open days etc, doesn't necessarily mean you will get all of them.
