What is actually expected of me for first year insight schemes? - + pro-bono question

I'm starting my first year and whilst having okay academics, I only have two weeks non-legal work experience, and literally nothing to put under extra-curricular/interests. Don't get me wrong, I have SO much planned to do at university, mooting, try to write for a blog, law society, pro-bono...

Should i be able to answer this?

I'm applying to a first year scheme, and am yet to start my LLB (I start in a few weeks). One of the questions i was asked is what skills does a lawyer need to succeed. Apart from extremely broad points like to be a critical thinker, be able to deal with and develop client relationships, which I...

In this case would an LLM really contribute much to my application

Going UCL in september. If i was to get a first, would an LLM from Oxford make me much more of a competitive applicant? I'm not doing this solely for job prospects, rather an academic/personal endeavour, but if firms would favour it, then that would be a very nice plus.

What To do in first year to prepare for VC's?

okay, thanks :) Do you think it would be worth getting a job at the bar, or something along those lines just so the work experience section isnt empty. If not i'm going to have to leave that section completely blank.

What To do in first year to prepare for VC's?

Hi, a few of the first year schemes you mentioned, and some other ones i found are actually open to applications now. They close around Feb 2022 generally and im unsure if i should apply early or wait until i perhaps join some societies and get some first year results? I've heard most law firms...

Practice for watson glaser in y13

I've recently finished my final tests/exams and have no work to do. Would it be beneficial to do a few practice Watson Glaser tests? Could someone maybe recommend me some good e-books that will help casually develop my commercial knowledge. Or anything that would in general benefit my...

What To do in first year to prepare for VC's?

Wow, thank you so much, this is precisely what I needed. I've copy and pasted this response into a notepad to refer to later. I really appreciate the in-depth response. It sounds like a fun process, looking at all the different components and trying to make the perfect application.

What To do in first year to prepare for VC's?

I'll be going into my first year in September and am not the strongest applicant academically. Apart from joining relevant societies and developing commercial awareness, what can I do to really advantage myself for MC and US firms? Also, would having success on the rowing team be of an...

Odd situation in regard to my academics. Need opinions.

Hello all. My academic profile is as follows: GCSE's: 655542 A-levels: A*A*A* (Predicted, but due to CAG its unlikely ill get below A*A*A) Somehow (possibly due to contextual factors) ive managed to get an offer at UCL for law. My poor GCSEs were due to medical circumstances, and id really...
