I’m curious to hear from people who have applied to open days at the same law firm two or three years in a row…
Although I didn’t get a VS or TC offer in my first cycle, I did have success with competitive open day applications. I visited the offices of Cooley, Paul Hastings, Skadden, Willkie, Simmons, CRS and Lewis Silkin.
I’m still refining my application process, of course, so I’d like to spend more time with such firms, talking with staff, hearing about cases, learning from trainees, etc.
Has anyone had the experience of going to the same open day two years in a row? If so, how is a returning application perceived by grad recruitment teams? Are repeat visits encouraged?
I haven’t applied to open days at the same firm but through Aspiring Solicitors there were a few firms I did repeat visits too (HSFK and BCLP spring to mind). I think Clifford Chance too but it was through Legal Cheek or something iirc. But I think it was for a diff event or purpose each time.
Idk if applying for the same open days at the same firm is 100% worth it. You’d be better off applying for open days at firms you’ve yet to visit or interact with. I think that helps broaden your options when it comes to VS/DTC apps. If a firm is top on your list I think it’s probs fine to do it.
