What are the Eversheds application questions?
One of my biggest pieces of advice to people going through the process, and something I tried to remind myself of daily (and still do), was just to take each stage of the application process one step at a time. It’s anxious enough, there’s no point...
Worth clarifying with them. Sounds like a confusing email. Do you get any results for the test?
But, I recall you have to wait till the next recruitment cycle at RS.
Always worth revisiting and revising your application if you reapply. This could just be writing style, deals and client you...
Definitely briefly say this in your write up of the open day. E.g Attended an open day at xyz via an assessed application.
Don’t take it too personally. Same happened to me on the exact same question regarding teamwork. I gave the same answer for the second firm as I hadn’t received feedback...
Chambers used to do a guide, but I found that was very outdated. Nevertheless, a good starting point. I just did pure research and read a lot of grad rec websites.
Hard!! But no different from applying for vac schemes. I picked my firms carefully so I knew they wouldn’t just recruit TCs from the VS pool.
Really nail your application answers. Keep drafting until it’s perfect. Make sure every sentence has a purpose. Hazel has done an amazing writing style...
It sounds like you have good experience and grades. Some firms see it as a mandatory requirement that you need to have done a vacation scheme. Others are more open to just wanting you to demonstrate the required skills, qualities and attributes from all your experience/activities. Worth...
Unless explicitly asked to do this, then no. Waste of word count, to add the firms’ and yours.
If you’re asked to upload a word doc as a cover letter, then yes you should. One of the things that may be assessed is if you can format a letter, so it’s better to play it safe.
Probably not. I maybe a cynic but you’ll most likely get the same response. Too many apps to give feedback. I imagine they’ll not want it to get out they’re giving feedback as it will just open the floodgates.
If it’s after an AC/interview then I would definitely try. It’s really bad on them...
Bclp I think offer some general feedback points. But they seem to be generic to all students. Hep to compare your application against those points though.
The Magic Circle will I believe (I could be wrong) provide you with a report on the Watson Glaser test which does help a bit. For CC it’s...
I agree with @Salma haha.
I don’t think it matters why you want to leave your current job. At the end of the day, you want to train as a solicitor and work in commercial law at firm xyz. That’s why you’re leaving and no other reason. Definitely compare and contrast your current role to that in...
And interesting to see how this article has developed....

After 59 applications over the course of a number of cycles, countless rejections and giving it blood, sweat and tears, I’ve finally managed to secure a Training Contract!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beyond my wildest dreams. Thank you to everyone on here that’s helped along the way!
The process is brutal and...
Good luck. Really use the guides on here. The M&A, Private Equity and 175 questions guide. They are better than the bible!!! Though admittedly I haven’t read the latter.
Given the type of firm you mention, particularly with their sector focus, they’re likely to be international not just london focused. Is there any data available on this? If I was drafting the question, I would focus on how the issue affects their sectors (I.e picking a couple of client types...
I’ve only ever had this question at firms where there are clear differences in terms of their sectors, international approach or strengths. They usually say we are the best at xyz. At these firms, it seemed to be a targetting whether you had done enough research on the firm or just blindly made...
I agree with @Salma. Most interviewers will give a background about them. I do try to link back to that. Which guide or interview prep note I’ve read always mentions building rapport with the interviewer. I find it hard to do this when it’s just a quick back and forth question/answer exchange...
Was trying to put a positive spin on things. But I forgot to mention Firm C, which rejected me directly after submitting an application. But in their rejection email, thanked me for attending a recent interview where they enjoyed meeting me.
*** I never attended an interview unless I’ve lost my...
