It is perfectly acceptable to ask for guidance on this, both from the person allocating you the task or your supervisor/trainee buddy.
In addition, many law firms have knowledge management lawyers or professional support lawyers who help with these type of matters and would be good people to...
Reserve lists can be utilised even weeks before the scheme starts, so if this is for a summer scheme, I would say there is still a chance of the firm contacting the reserve list.
I would check with the firm - they are likely to have policies on what can/can't be stored on electronic devices outside of the firm's equipment. You are likely going to be given a laptop though and so I would generally recommend saving most things on this rather than a personal device.
I'd stress that firms run vacation schemes to try and recruit trainees, so generally you have a good chance of converting.
However, your chances are going to be dependent on too many variable factors, including your individual performance, which will make it impossible for anyone to determine...
I can't comment on that unfortunately. I don't know the firm and even if I did, I wouldn't be privy to their policies and what factors they consider when considering to use the term or not.
From speaking to firms about this last week though, there seems to be very much a "case by case"...
From what I understand and know, having terms in offers is reasonably common but firms may not act on those terms but have them should they need to in circumstances where the candidate is not keeping to their terms (beyond not passing the SQE assessments.)
Do you have a TC offer? If so, I would...
Any TC offer is going to have terms related to passing the SQE. It maybe that the firm allows resits and factors that into your start date, by either allowing you to start without having passed the exams or deferring your start date. Some TC offers will be contingent on passing first time...
I would go with 2-3 skills or characteristics developed from one experience.
It will be important to explain how that skill(s) will support you as a lawyer too.
I would speak to the firm about this - unfortunately our community won't know the answer to this, only the firm will.
If you are able to start earlier, it may also be the case that the firm has earlier intakes, so it is worthwhile speaking to them and stating an interest in starting earlier if...
As it’s a Sunday, it’s unlikely to be anything but 23.59 tonight as there would be little logic is closing at any other time when there isn’t any working hours today.
I think you only have to worry about this if a firm has a re-application policy that limits you from reapplying within 12 months. If a firm does have this policy, then you just have to consider whether you consider yourself to have a strong enough application now or whether it it worthwhile...
I would try not to over think this at this stage. If you secured a TC that is sponsored by a firm, they would speak to you about the relevant timeframes and would take that into account with the intake they offered you.
I think you could apply to both early 2028 and late 2028 TCs if you wanted to. I don’t think you should rule out the early 2028 TCs given the timeframes you are considering.
I would make a mixture of VS and TC applications. Unless you have many years of legal work experience or have work or...
You would generally start the SQE prep around 12-15 months before your TC starts. You may need more of the top end of this scale given your law degree is over 3 years old - most prep providers would recommend a more through refresh of legal knowledge where what some of the legal knowledge you...
I think it’s just about each individual vacation scheme student considering what’s important/non negotiable for their career and then making sure they either look for those elements for the scheme or at least ask different people about their experiences that would demonstrate those elements...
