"Provide an example of a change in society, the economy, or in a market sector which interests you and which you think could impact the legal sector. Discuss the impact it has had or could have."
"Identify a current commercial issue which has attracted your attention recently. Why do you...
When filling the work experience section, would you suggest linking it back to how it could help at the firm or only describing skills/ resp? @Jessica Booker
Hi, when applying to a US firm and discussing a commercial news story/ issue - does it make sense to talk about US-specific updates in the commercial world or UK-specific? (say for eg interest rates)
Any tips for how to tackle Weil's Q:
"Think of a current commercial issue that has recently attracted your attention. Why does it interest you, why do you consider it to be significant and how do you think this will impact Weil's clients?"
It says commercial issue so I'm assuming it isn't a...
Thank you so much for these insights - super helpful.
That is helpful to know. If you don't mind, this could probably be a separate conversation, but how can I choose which UK universities to apply to?
By the time I graduate, I'll be qualified in India but there's also a way for me to clear...
Hi @axelbeugre I'm an international student applying from India for TCs in the UK in the penultimate year of my law degree. I'm doing my law degree from India and am due to graduate in 2025.
Hi, question for @axelbeugre (feel free to answer if anyone else can too) - "I feel like, especially as a mature student or international student, US firms tend to be more interested in you and your life journey and why you are transitioning in law, recognising your diverse skillset and how it...
Hi @WillkieGemma , this has been an insightful thread. I'm an international student in the penultimate year of my law degree and I graduate in 2025 and am available to start in 2026.
Q. I am aware that Willkie allows international students as mentioned on the website but wanted to double-check...
Hi folks, how do I best answer a question that asks me details of any interests, or hobbies that I may have outside of university or work? This is the first time I'm writing an answer to this type of question. I've identified the interest I want to discuss but I'm confused with structure.
Do I...
Hi Andrea! Thank you for starting this thread. I'm surprised it hasn't blown up haha! I'm an international student applying from India for TCs in the UK in the penultimate year of my law degree. The sponsoring visa situation - tell me about it!!
I applied for the Links India internship but did...
maybe you're right. A&O PFO received around an hour ago. I'm insanely disappointed - A&O was an imp one for me :/
This is my first cycle, I'm a penultimate year international law student so it's super hard to even be qualified to apply to VS and I have legal experience so I was thinking direct...
oh, weird because I emailed them just a few days back and they said they don't. But I guess their Direct TC apps will open summer of 2024 as someone said on the forum so I'll apply then! Thanks, folks!
As far as I know, L&W does not offer a direct TC route. Wanted to confirm here since I asked them if they sponsor visas for international students for VS and it was a negative so I'm a little bummed not being able to able to apply to the firm :/
sorry to hear that. Good luck with your other applications! It can feel terrible to start the process all over again. I saw a story posted by TCLA on their Instagram yesterday - it was really encouraging :)
Also, I'm curious as to why you think you messed up the VI? Any particular reason?
