Hey all!
Just was wondering whether anyone had any advice for the CAPPs test? I'll give it a go soon but wanted to know what I could do to prep perhaps.
Thanks! :D
Definitely! I know that when I first started writing apps, I'd try and tie the firm into a competency question. The firm really just wants to hear how I performed as a team member, not for me to find some link to the firm haha.
Thanks all!
Just adding to both of these answers - a few successful apps that I've seen to Ashurst don't cover "Why Ashurst" in the cover letter. That being said, everyone answers differently but one thing I've learnt in my app cycle seasons is that you should answer the question as it is. As the question...
Thanks everyone for your input! Definitely have some clarity now. Essentially, I think I was trying to answer a commercial/business answer as opposed to a question on the legal market/industry.
I agree that there might be cross overs with commercial/legal but will definitely have a think about...
Hi all,
Thought I'd create a thread for the Ashurst application/s.

Firms are usually understanding about this type of thing. Having worked in Higher Education, if your tutor/academic referee is off then you can contact your departments' office (the place where you'd let them know about mitigating circumstances, changing seminars, etc) and ask them to provide a...
Also guys, a tip that I have if you're applying to firms with a small intake and want to know whether it's worth applying for their summer TC window: drop grad rec a line.
They're usually very honest about it and will advise you what's best (either to apply for the direct TC or to just apply...
Although it's been covered above, Hogan Lovells recruits rolling basis for TC too (in case anyone wanted any clarification because I know that some firms do rolling basis recruitment for their VSs but not their TCs)
Hey! I tried e-mailing them too but they never responded. Not sure if they're hiring this year because their Apply4Law portal doesn't have a live vacancy.
Hi all!
Thanks so much for your responses. Apologies for getting back to you so late. I've been trying to take some time off from the whole corporate law thing and just needed some time to myself.
Thank you all for your insights and advice. I've bookmarked them all.
As weird as this sounds, I...
Also, does anyone have any experience with applying to Hogan Lovells? They've instituted a two applications per candidate rule and now I'm unsure what to do :/
