TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2024-25

Anyone done the NRF Arctic Shores? Same as Gowling's? My feedback from Gowling was: "How you understand others": 4/4 - I always do well on emotion recognition games "How you respond to change" 1/4 - I'm sure this is from reacting too slowly or wrongly in the press x/y type games "How you attend...

Just did the Goodwin VI. Seemed pretty vanilla, no real curveballs. Probably didn't do well enough especially if they've put a lot of people through to this stage, but oh well.

TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2024-25

Have you done it yet? Just wondering whether it's a "here's your question, you have 90 seconds to think of an answer" (so you need to be prepped in advance) or a "here's the first question, you can record the answer whenever you're ready" type of vi.

    Most annoying recruitment practices

Oh yeah I have another one. "Dear Simmons & Simmons, your video interview glitched during submission, can you reset it for me, as advised in the email." <silence> "Dear Simmons & Simmons, further to my previous email, could you please reset the interview?" <silence> <....> "Dear Candidate...

    Most annoying recruitment practices

50-100 words questions are fine, idk, at least it doesn't take too long to write, the 30 second video interview is definitely a bad one! If you want a real interview, then have your staff arrange an interview with me. talking into a webcam with 30 seconds preparation isn't really representative...

    Most annoying recruitment practices

Here are some of mine: forms with mandatory fields that shouldn't be mandatory (I didn't do an SQE prep course, stop asking me) errors in underlying data feeds that the suppliers refuse to fix (e.g., missing schools) brittle in-house application systems which ask lots of questions but flake...

Do you think it's worth sending feedback about SJTs anywhere? I just did one where I scored 4/9 for digital mindset, whereas I'd say I'm more of a 9/9 kinda guy. I think I know a key reason why - one of the questions had a digital option that just wouldn't work in reality, so I chose the...

I received a reply from HSF: We are not aware of any programming errors on our end related to the online assessment. Our assessments and reports have been designed by qualified psychologists who undertook a thorough job analysis and design process to create them. They have been piloted with...

    HSF Blended Online Assessment

If the assessment is worthless, due to a basic programming error, they should know.

    HSF Blended Online Assessment

Do you have a link to this feedback from other forum users? Another user messaged me saying they felt the feedback was odd. I am not sure whether I should contact HSF: the feedback report didn't seem to be reconcilable with my answers.

    HSF Blended Online Assessment

Not sure if anyone else has done this one, but I found it a bit strange. It had two parts, a set of spoken question (which could equally have been done as text) where you had a work scenario and had to choose one "best" and one "worst" answer. They had one sample question, where they told you...

Insight Day - how much preparation/legal knowledge?

I have an online insight day. They have sent us case studies. Apparently on the day we will be in break out rooms of 8 and will go through the case study with one of the firm's solicitors/trainees for about 20 minutes. Obviously if that was 20 minutes and a one-to-one discussion then you would...

BPP or UoL Law Conversion Masters with or without SQE1

I have applied for the law conversion with masters at BPP and UoL for this September. (I might be overseas in the future, and I felt a 'masters' is more credible than a 'diploma', but maybe it doesn't matter really.) For BPP the fees for this (in London) are £15,800, whereas at UoL it is...
