    Latham & Watkins Video Interview

I have a vague idea what last year's questions were, but I wonder if they may have changed and I want to prepare for that. What general ways did you try to prepare for the interview?

    Latham Video Interview

Hey folks, After grilling the graduate recruiter at the law fair for about half an hour, I'm happy to say that my work has (initially) paid off and I have gotten a video interview at Latham! Does anybody know what the questions are/were last year?

    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

I got an email last night saying that they were now 'reviewing' my application - think we'll all start to hear back soon!

    Mishcon de Reya issue question

That's good advice. For instance the small intake isn't unique, but it certainly appeals and is the reason why I've also applied to some American firms. I think everyone knows it is a 'distinctive' firm, but I think beyond that it's really hard to say exactly what makes it stand out, which is...

    Mishcon de Reya issue question

That's an interesting way of thinking about that. The problem with it is that I think it would be hard to come across as passionate about the market for private wealth law services, and isn't exactly what (as Jessica suggested) someone might talk about with their mates at the pub. For now, I...

    Mishcon de Reya issue question

The main question that the Mishcon app asks is this: Beyond looking for a challenging career, why do you want to be a lawyer? Why do you want to be a lawyer at Mishcon de Reya? (300 words max) I thought I had come up with a reasonable answer but looking again I think I might have missed the...

    HSF 2019 Applications 'Topic Question'

I applied fairly early on. I would say maybe the beginning of October or mid-late September? It took me absolutely ages to be sent the online test though. I even had to speak to one of the recruiters at my university's law fair about it.

    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

What do you guys think the next step is? Will they invite us to write something now or straight to interview? The new system seems weird. A big change from last year at least.

    HSF 2019 Applications 'Topic Question'

Got my first rejection of the year from HSF just now (though I expect more to come) - Passed the online test and put a lot of thought into it, but I knew there were lots of applicants. Only regret is I will never know what exactly I could have improved on. Good luck everyone!

    Ask A Graduate Recruiter Anything!

Hi Jessica, I am looking at the Macfarlanes application at the minute. I have looked through other posts about it so I have a pretty solid idea of how to answer it, but I have two specific questions about the form I'm a little unclear on. In one of their sections, the form asks us to talk...

    Mishcon de Reya issue question

When I spoke to the recruiter about it she gave me the impression that it wasn't so much the topic that was important as to how you engage with the question through your answer. However, she told me I shouldn't talk about my hobby (an unusual sport) as the question is phrased to focus on...

    Mishcon de Reya issue question

Thanks for the suggestion Jessica, I have been racking my brain about this for a few days since your reply. I think that the reason why I am struggling with this question so much is that I am not really sure if the answer I would like to give would be taken seriously by a recruiter. The law...

    Mishcon de Reya issue question

Hi guys, The Mishcon app this year asks this question: "If we were to invite you to interview what is the issue that you would most like to talk about? And why? This should be an issue that you would happily discuss with your friends and should be something you genuinely feel passionate about...

Which law firms recruit on a rolling basis? 2018-2019

I believe that Gibson Dunn recruits on a rolling basis for their vac schemes, if you wanted to add that to the list.

    HSF 2019 Applications 'Topic Question'

This is exactly what I did in the end! While writing it, I found that talking about the coaching felt a little forced - while it is interesting I think I have used it too many times in past applications as an example of law firm competencies. I ended up focusing on how I liked the sport for its...

    Ask A Graduate Recruiter Anything!

Thanks for the heads up. I'm hesitant to be more specific given that I haven't submitted the application yet. Is the app a little off in the sense that I go into detail about why the skills I have learnt would be good as a trainee? It does not specifically ask for that in the question, just to...

    .

I am interested in applying to the bar myself, but not straight away. The plan is to train as a solicitor and work in disputes, perhaps gaining higher rights if the option is open to me and staying in that for a few years. I then plan on doing an LLM to refresh my academic understanding of the...

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

I don't know if my application has been bonked for the same reason as I have a small learning disability that I routinely mention on app forms, but I'm a little relieved that at least someone has gotten an answer! Thanks for posting.
