    Ask A Graduate Recruiter Anything!

Hi Jessica, The app form I have been working on asks why you want to train as a solicitor, and your skills and achievements. On these big cover-letter style applications it is very tempting to just write everything rather than target the question more specifically. I have tried hard to keep...

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

I have not heard anything from them. I submitted my application on Monday and I haven't even been sent the link to the test yet, which I thought was supposed to be an automatic step. I have emailed but no response yet. Once it reaches a week I will email again.

    HSF 2019 Applications 'Topic Question'

Thanks for your thoughts Alice. Funnily enough, writing out that post helped me realise that the sport one was the more natural fit - I think i'm going to save the law clinic stuff for an application which asks me about a goal or something similar. What do you think you might write about...

Government Legal Department Trainee Scheme AC

Fair enough. A family member of mine works for the Civil Service and has advised me that the GLS trainee scheme is so competitive (30,000-odd apps per year apparently!) it is best to apply to both streams at once to increase your chances.

    HSF 2019 Applications 'Topic Question'

I was actually just about to go and write on the ask a graduate recruiter thread about this topic question, but it appears this has answered my question for me. The consensus seems to be that you can write about something personal or something commercial. Can anyone give me some advice on what...

    Ask A Graduate Recruiter Anything!

Hi again Jessica, I have two more questions for you! I was reading the thread from Abstruser, where they state that they had never met the firms they were offered a training contract at before an interview. I would think that nearly everyone who applies for a TC or Vac Scheme at a firm they've...

Generational/Structural Change at Law Firms and its Effects?

I decided to write my thoughts down because I wanted to focus my mind whilst looking to answer that exact question for A&O this year, as it is something I remember being talked about briefly at an open day. My actual application is slightly different to this, which is just a collection of...

Generational/Structural Change at Law Firms and its Effects?

I couldn't remember if there was an article on the website about this already, but I think this is a key issue that law firms are facing and wondered if anyone wanted to share their thoughts as we get ready for application season. Please note that I have not done any specific research before...

    Ask A Graduate Recruiter Anything!

Hi Jessica, I have three questions for you, if you are willing to answer them. Firstly, if a firm were to ask you to talk about the current or future impact of something that interests you on the legal sector (I'm speaking generally, but I lifted this example from A&O's application form) would...

    Welcome! Introduce yourself here :)

Hello folks, I'm Matt, and I'm going into the second year of a senior status law degree at Bristol University, after studying for my undergrad in Scotland. If anyone has any questions about senior status, here or elsewhere, ask away. I've been vaguely aware of TCLA for a while (Jaysen added me...
